Conclusion

“My great religion is a belief in the blood, the flesh, as being wiser than the intellect. We can go wrong in our minds. But what our blood feels and believes and says, is always true. The intellect is only a bit and a bridle.” D. H. Lawrence (1921)

D. H. Lawrence, who concocted the term ‘blood-consciousness’, believed in the vital role blood played in how people experienced the world around them. He went so far as to favour the influence of blood over that of the mind. Today, blood remains fundamental in our experiences of cultures, societies, and ultimately, our bodies. Blood is an essential part of the human body. In many ways, it defines who we are. It determines how we perceive ourselves and the people around us. It connects us and divides us.
